Even with acceptance that it's not my right to have it, that He can and will spill it elsewhere just to drive that fact home, it still hurts.

There are a lot of mixed emotions about the new controller. From the comments I read in 1up's article, they are either great or bad and only a handful are waiting it out without speaking well or badly about it.

From my test of gyroscope technology on driving games (which in my case was Motocross Madness) I can only say that it was awful. Driving (games) is one of the genres for which I think that the new technology is inadequate.

Some other games are all about precision and speed, and there is still nothing that can deliver precision better than a mouse because of the way you can customize it's movement and sensitivity and due it being on fixed platform all the time. But for a console, I think this really can be the next best thing, if it's well used.

I don't think anyone can equal their skills on Counter Strike (as an example) playing it on the Revolution since it requires a lot of mixed precision and speed.

"Does innovation have a place between a graphic obsessed gaming community?"

It's more like the game obsessed gaming community; graphics is secondary. And it's rather difficult to create a different gaming experience without different controls. Think about how different console game experience is from PCs even if you're playing the same game (especially FPS games). The difference is not in the speed of the machines or the graphics; it's merely the difference in the way you control.

If nothing else, I think this new control is more 'natural'. Remember playing your first driving game and unconsciously leaning every time you turn? Remember unconsciously jolting your gamepad when you strike someone with your sword? We since realized leaning doesn't make the car corner faster and jolting doesn't make the sword hit harder--but wouldn't it feel more natural if it did?

Of course there are doubts about the new control. There were doubts when they pretty much invented the gamepad while everyone else was using joystics. How about when they invented the analog stick, wireless controller, trigger buttons, and rumble pak? I think they know what they're doing.

Lastly, thank god at least one company is concentrating on gameplay while the other's are having a hardware pissing contest.

By the way, I just noticed that the Revolution analogue thingy looks like one of those floating things we had on Phantasy Star Online (mags):
