4GB for your PSP

While Sony and Sandisk devise ways to milk their Memory Sticks as much as they can, Datel, famous for their Action Replay programs (and devices), are bringing out a 4GB Hard-drive for the PSP that comes packed with a battery with twice the capability of the original PSP one.

The two aren’t the same device. The 4GB “drive” comes with the battery in the same bundle, but I’m not sure how you can use them at the same time or how it (the drive) connects to the PSP.

Anyway, hopefully this add-on will prove very successful and give Sony and Sandisk a run for their money and cheaper prices for their “precious” (and overpriced) memory sticks and of course bring us higher capability memory sticks.

You can pre-order from here.

I believe, after reading the site’s blurb, that the hard drive is designed to affix to the outside of the PSP while a short cable connects it where a memory stick would usually reside.

It will bulk up one side of the PSP. However, conveniently, they note on their site that if you also use the “X2″ battery, then both sides will be symmetrically bulked up. Oh thank heavens!

Sounds like an add on (which could be removed) for someone who isn’t so attached to their PSP’s sleekness and would like a great deal more media storage.

It’s also noteworthy that the site liked to is a bundle of both the fancypants battery and the HD for about $300, and I believe that they do not ship to the US.
