It will bulk up one side of the PSP. However, conveniently, they note on their site that if you also use the "X2" battery, then both sides will be symmetrically bulked up. Oh thank heavens! Sounds like an add on (which could be removed) for someone who isn't so attached to their PSP's sleekness and would like a great deal more media storage. It's also noteworthy that the site liked to is a bundle of both the fancypants battery and the HD for about $300, and I believe that they do not ship to the US.
