I don’t know about you, but I can think of about a hundred thousand different things I would rather spend $100,000 on rather than a virtual space station, but in Project Entropia there is at least one person that would rather the virtual space station.
A virtual space resort being built in the online role-playing game, Project Entropia, has been snapped up for $100,000 (£56,200).
The space station is described as a “monumental project” in the “treacherous, but mineral rich” Paradise V Asteroid Belt and comes with mining and hunting taxation rights.
With the price tag also comes mall shopping booth and market stall owner deeds, a land management system, a billboard marketing system, and space station naming rights.

2Wow, this is amazing, and shows that the “virtual economies” are growing. What’s next?

4The guy who bought this was a U.S. Film maker… obviously he has tons of money to blow plus this is an investment.
He plans to hire some of the worlds biggest DJs to play tracks while people hunt on his land and he said he estimates that he will rake in $20,000 a month off of hunting tax and other income. So if it follows through his hunting ground/club will bring his land some nice money.
BBC also reported the registered accounts inaccurately. “Entropia has 236,000 registered accounts.”
and according to Porject Entropia’s official site, “Join the 316206 persons before you – get a life in Project Entropia”

5I don’t know about this… I would rather play a game that costs me nothing to walk around freely besides the monthly set fee. Also this will just encourage hacking even more and yes there is -always- a way I know.
