is any body going to have that much stuff on a hard drive?

As a general rule of thumb, the only thing that takes up that much space is porn.

The Maxtor really isnt a Terabyte drive at all. Its really just two 500gig drives stripped together, not the same thing.

Right. No one’s ever gonna need that much space. Just like 640k memory should be enough for everyone.

Lets see what I got on my drives:
~20 HD movies, which are 10-15gb each
~300 dvds
~20 games and CD images (so I don’t have to insert CD)
~4000 songs, most at 192k to 256k
~1000 episodes of tv shows, anime, etc.
Wait, am I over the limit now?

If it fails, i just slap it onto an external enclosure and work on it: dd imaging, freezing, etc. Of course, the smartest thing to do would be to back up all the important files to another drive, but someone told me I wouldn’t need that much space.

I’m glad I can get a terabyte hard drive. I was running out of space! No, not really. Unless your doing video production, is any body going to have that much stuff on a hard drive? If so, I hope that you backed-up the files onto a DVD. If that hard drive crashes your screwed.

It does raid 0 and 1. :)

Other than that…It’s from Maxtor, and it will come out as a OneTouch setup, which would be nice.

I don’t know how it will compare to the lacie products though.

Is there something special about this hd other than the size? Because 1TB and even 2TB has been out for quite a while now.(lacie.com)
