PSP 2.50 Firmware Available
Thursday, Oct. 13 2005 | Author: GriffithSony has released yet another update for the PSP, and according to the PSP version number guide, since the middle number was changed they should have released it in a new country, and not add some new features and more security fixes to it, so the guide is now outdated.
The most interesting feature though is location free TV, basically you can access media from your PC at home, however, at the moment, you need to have a special device to do so that costs around $300, which is ridiculous, so hopefully it’s price will drop drastically, or no one will ever bother upgrading.
Once again, remember that if you update to version 2.01 or 2.50 you will not able to use homebrew software anymore.

8There is no way to downgrade from 2.01 or 2.50 back to 2.0 or 1.50.
You should have informed yourselfs before updating your firmware.
(It’s amazing that despite the warnings all PSP new sites put up, including my announcement people still go ahead and do it and then complain about it)

27Ich habe versucht di files von 1.5 und 2.6 in einem eboot zu mischen alsu die fixes von 1.5 und den code von 1.5! >>
Aber als ich das owerflov.tif mit editor geöffnet und die links unter doe png datei geschreieben habe (also ms:/data1.bin) und dann in die data datei einen link auf die boot.bin von 1.5 ging es und die psp hat angefangen 1.5 zu installieren!!!
Aber als sie neu reebootet hat war die psp immernoch auf 2.5 !!!
Fazit: Es ist nicht möglich die psp Ìberhaupt zu downfŽgraden!!!

372.6 didnt contain any patches i ran the 2.5 exploit on it and it did the same thing as the 2.5 u know what that says thet 2.5 exploit is going no where sony must have looked at that exploit and relized it is not going to go no where so no need to patch 2.6 so i gess homebrew got shut down im now kicking my self ro upgrading sorry for all who up date like me :(

100You lot are all rlly unlucky. I actually managed to run homebrew off my 2.5 PSP! My m8s got a software that cn get from 2.5 back down to 1.5, he made your mistake but then downgraded back again. he gets the occasional black out like twice a month but hu cares so long as u cn play and watch homebrew!!
the trick to getting homebrew on your 2.5 psp is having a regionfree PSP. Unlucky you peeps, probs all stuck on region 1 or 2.

I do not concur with the hypothesis of a downgrader for 2.5 and above, it is not congenial for the sophic hacker to release such information with such promulgation and publicity. Don’t be bashful, one suggests one uses the PSP to it’s full potential,such meets with m assent.Though as of now and the near future PSP 2.5 users are stuck with such.

141Hey everyone, my PSP came with 2.50 and im really pissed, but instead of trying to downgrade, im trying to get homebrew to run on 2.50. version 1.50 lestd u run unsigned code, but 2.50 dosn’t, so im going to use GTA:LCS to launch apps in a similar way to Edison Carters cheat device. The app will then let you browse through the memory stick and run files just as you would on 1.50. I’ve managed to run PSPersonalize(pointless?), so i should be able to run other apps using the same method soon, but i wont be able to get rid of the pain in the arse that is loading GTA first :p

160hey, heres a bright idea; since once your psp has an upgrade on it and its not stored on the memory stick, then it would have to be on internal memory inside the psp(kids stuff, i know but bear with me), find a way to hack your psp directly(the internal memory part) and erase the upgrade manually.

I`m really pissed off, cause I bought a damn PSP with the 1.5 firmware already installed, and without knowing about Homebrew Games, I bloody upgraded to 2.06, and still sweating it out now. I think there will be a crack soon, but you`ll just have to be patient for now… as for me, I`m buying another PSP with 1.5 firmware off ebay, just waiting for the crack for the current PSP.

194Unfortunately if anyones upgraded to above 2.01 (like me) theres still now ay to run the original homebrew apps. However you can download a few homebrew apps that run from GTA LCS. I am yet to find a game file for this method but i think its just a matter of time. I wouldnt be suprised though if sony brought out an update that banned this method as well.

210I thought i had a breakthrough… I have fw version 2.60. I downloaded the 1.5 fw and opened it in notepad. Then I changed the text where it said 1.50 to 2.61 and put it on my psp and tried to run it. I didn’t get the usual “there is no need to upgrade” message so i thought it was gunna work. Screen went black for like 10 seconds and then told me “The game could not be started (80020148)”. Anyway I think editing the fw files may be the way to figure out how to do this.

250Hey, this is n old post, but fanjita(www.fanjita.org) has made an eboot loader for 2.01 through till 2.6!! if someone can create a compatable version changer to 1.00 so the psp thinks its at 1.00, you can “upgrade” to 1.5.
2.0 is good for homebrew too, so if you got that dont bother taking the risk of a downgrade!

256i’ve found a way to downgrade 2.5 to 1.5 but it takes ages, almost an hour… you have to run files on the psp using a UMD game by loading a saved game file that actually boots up a small program inside the psp, and then reboot the psp, which tricks the psp into thinking that it’s running 1.5, then it asks you to upgrade to 1.5 and voila, you have 1,5 running. it crashes nearly every time, you just have to keep trying until it works, the files for converting 2.5 to 1.5 are currently unavailable, im still working on them, i need to make sure everything works %100, when i do get everything running ok, i’ll tell you guys

i have a theory but don`t know how to hack. you ppl seem to know alot more then me and everyone is trying to downgrade 2.01 or higher but its impossible so i have an idea hack the 1.50 eboot upgrader change the version number of the eboot to 2.62 or something (higher then 2.60) then when upgrading the psp sees that the version is higher and will install the upgrade(the 1.5 upgrader in disguise). it would be worth a try and as i see the psp v 2.01 can be upgraded to 2.6 so it should be easy tricking the psp to upgrade higher but using the same eboot as 1.5 just somehow changing the version of it.

311i might have created a way to downgrade the psp by upgrading it. i made a 2.70 upgrade. i modifyed the 1.50 eboot and created a 2.70 upgrade the upgrade is still the 1.50 eboot just with a name change, tricking the psp into thinking its a new higher upgrade which will be 2.70 i have not tested this method as im happy with my 1.5 so if any one has a 2.01 psp or higher and would like to test it leave your e-mail address after this post saying “i want to be a guinie pig” please note this might work and it might not i will not be held responsible for damages occured to any psp where the 2.70 eboot is loaded onto

345i have an idea if you downgrade from 2.5 or higher to 1.5 you will be able to play games from the memory card. So why does everyone upgrade in the first place. If you already have then run eloader 1.5 and change the tmd to .old and replace the existing tmd with 2.01 thus confusin the psp loader and reverting back to 2.01 with all the same attributes. As most of you who can code will see the code in the .tmd is the same in both version but by replacing the tmd to .old in he current version will tell the psp to roll back to 2.01 as the only difference is th version number and then you can easily downrade from 2.01 to 1.5 b followin various guides on the net

362Well, I know there is a 2.0,2.1 downgrader to 1.5 that does not require illegal files that was released September 9, 2006, but since the same guys also found a tiff exploit that lets you gain kernal access using 2.6, there really is no reason to downgrade (once they get the kinks worked out).
Gotta love having n64 (slow, but it works), snes, genesis etc on a hand held… not to mention the rest of the stuff.
