Firefox 1.5 Officially Released

Firefox 1.5 has been officially released by the Mozilla organization. In addition to the official release announcement, Mozilla has also launched a new site for Firefox and Thunderbird at www.mozilla.com

Firefox 1.5 introduces several new features, including an improved software update system, faster Back / Forward page navigation, a new options to clear private browsing data, drag-and-drop reordering of browser tabs, a redesigned Options/Preferences window and more robust popup blocking. Standards support is also improved, with support for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), JavaScript 1.6 and additional CSS properties. Accessibility is much improved (including new DHTML accessibility features), security has been enhanced and Mac OS X support has also been improved.

As many have suspected, RC3 and the final release are one and the same according to the Burning Edge.

SpreadFirefox is also gearing up to launch Firefox Flicks, which looks to be user-submitted video testimonials promoting Firefox.

Yes, it is true, RC3 and the Official Release of 1.5 are exactly the same. In fact, if you are running RC3 and you go to Help >> Check for Updates, it tells you there are no new updates. So this is basically no news if you are running RC3.

    Peace

Release Candidates are releases that are brought out that are very near the end version for people to try and test bugs on, so it’s no wonder RC3 is exactly the same.

  3. Matt says:

True Griffith, although it is suprising that there were NO changes between RC3 and the finished version. Guess RC3 was perfect, and nothing need change
