US soldiers may soon begin using bacteria-killing chewing gum, to eliminate the many dental problems caused by not brushing their teeth for a very long time. The gum was developed by US army researchers. The gum consists of a protein that attacks the bugs that cause plaque. This gum could also, at some point, be released as a consumer product. Before that happens the gum must be tested on human subjects, and other trials that will determine whether or not it can be used.
