In my city it seems anywhere there's a laundromat there's a bar next door, it's just a good combination. You've got an hour or two to kill in the middle of the day, and you can stay within a vicinity of your clothes.

At college the dorms have their own laundry rooms, so you can drink and wash your clothes in the same place!

In Denmark we have a nice cafe called Landromat where you can wash your close while drinking coffee or eating. And it looks good fo' sho'.

Also in the 60-70 when money were small and washing machines were expensive the combination of bar and laundry was tryed out - although with limited success. But interesting though.

In college towns laundromats make sense, because many people move every year or live in dorms. I didn't know anyone who had washing/drying machines unless it came with the apartment.

At U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus, there was a laundromat that's connected to a bar. I thought it was great. It's not like you're gonna be driving out somewhere between the 30minute wash/dry cycles. So while you're there, you might as well grab some beer, shoot some pool, play pinball, and/or flirt. And yes, there's a good chance that the chicks there are going commando(too).
