Sony has released the latest firmware patch for the PSP. I don’t know whether they fix the newly found exploit discovered in 2.50 but I honestly don’t care since they actually added some features instead of a stupid excuse for users to upgrade their firmware. And here’s the list of the features:
[RSS Channel] has been added as a feature under [Network].
[Volume Adjustment] has been added as an option in the [LocationFree⢠Player] control panel.
[Simplified
Chinese (GB18030)]* and [Traditional Chinese (Big5)] have been added as
options to [Encoding] under [View] in the [Internet Browser] menu bar.

Hey I got a theory on how to downgrade from 2.60. Use Fanjitas Eboot loader and then use a WAB version changer set it to 1.0 and then use the 1.5 update to get it to 1.5. I can’t do this as I haven’t got the Eboot loader or GTA LCS.

To use the internet on psp you need to download firmware 2.60 on your psp. Then it will come with a web browser that you can use by going into network settings on your psp, and you can for hotspots. For the curious, a hotspot is a wireless router connected to a high speed internet connection. If you don’t have one then pick up one around your home, and you can only connect to none encripted routers, or else it won’t work. Try to get the owners peqmission, please. If you have a comment about this, make one.

At the moment you have to upgrade I think. I have just bought street fighter alpha 3 and it’s asking me to update to firmware version 2.60 to, from 2.00 I currently have. The only way to get around playing a game without updating is using the PSPsetX program from team emergency. This lets you set your firmware version – well a trick to make your PSP think it is at a current version, but you can also actually downgrade the firmware version to 1.50 and back to 2.00. THIS ONLY WORKS FOR PSP ON VERSION 2.00, otherwise you have to do an alternative way. To use this PSPSetX ver 1.0 for firmware 2.00 program you need the latest version of eLoader (EBOOT Loader) from fanjita – a nother program itself. However, all this is great, but you can’t yet trick your PSP into thinking it version 2.60. Im sure we will have to wait.

ok, just run a search for devhook (for 1.5 users) and that allows you to essentially boot up anywhere up to 2.71 firmware (late post) and you can use all of the upgrades functionality, but if you want to play homebrew, just turn the power all the way off (not sleep) and voila, 1.5. oh, it also runs ISO’s (awesome)
