Today in Times Square, a Sprint billboard running Windows crashed, leaving behind a huge error message. The billboard says “Yes you can”. A flickr user, antoniojvr commented on the story: “Windows – No you can’t.”

MS has NYC’s video advertising flaking out all over the place. Video displays at subway entrances are also prone to BSOD. So is the Staten Island ferry notification system. How did MS get all these contracts? Not even from a “MS is EVIL” angle, but from a production one; Why would you use a desktop operating system instead of a firmware system made specifically to do just kiosk video or text-scrolling?
