Expect Microsoft to annouce that it will delay the release of its Windows Vista Beta 2 until January or February 2006.
A Microsoft representative told me that the company remains on track for shipping Windows Vista in the second half of 2006. “We are on schedule and committed to shipping on time and ensuring a high-quality product,” I was told. “Microsoft sets internal targets for the development team around milestones, but these are not commitments to specific dates. We do not comment on these internal milestones and we have not announced a specific timeframe for our next major Windows Vista milestone. “
It appears that they are still confident they can ship the new OS on schedule, officially releasing it next summer.

1Apparently it’s taking longer than expected to reverse-engineer Mac OS 10.4 than expected.

5I would be happy if it were delayed indefinitely.

6I find it funny that usually the people that I hear talking about Microsoft the worst are usually the first to get the newest versions of their OSs and brag about it.
A few months later that brag turns into hate, and from then onwards Microsoft “sucks” once again.

7The delay really isn’t a problem for MS as long as there’s nothing else out there better than WinXP(for the average Joe). What they should be worrying about is the absence of reasons for the upgrade. Unless I see something significant in beta 2, I for one will stick to XP.
Before this post starts a flame:
osX = different platform = doesn’t count
*nix/*bsd = still too rough for average Joe

10Actually, most of us do not mind a good Microsoft bash provided that you provide some line of reasoning behind the bash. All of us should be able to criticize software or software vendors as long as we can say something intelligent in the process. The problem in this thread is that I see no intelligence behind the Microsoft bashing. How about saying something smart in order to make a point guys?
