“Intel Inside” has been Intel’s (INTC) modo since 1991, but the new year will bring a new tagline. You’ve probably seen that logo on stickers on PC computers. There are a couple things that probably triggered this change. The biggest reason is probably bringing a fresh look to the Intel brand, secondly because AMD has been slowly chipping away at Intel’s empire, and this may be a far-fetched guess but it may have been influenced by Steve Jobs. Jobs probably had a tussle with Intel over allowing the sticker to be on Apple computers for aesthetic reasons. Maybe Jobs will allow the new logo to be included on Apple computers. Whatever the reason may be, the fact is that “Intel Inside” is gone and that’s probably a good thing.

Update: Came across these logos that are probably the ones Intel will use.

1The real reason AMD is chipping away at their market is because it is by far a better chip. There are very few exceptions. Being a web designer, utilizing graphics primarily AMD performs better. I also know a digital (video) content company and they too have heard that AMD is a better chip. I do know that Boxx (www.boxxtech.com) only uses AMD for their systems. Maybe Intel should look at their numbers again and get their chip into a better market position with either greater performance or better pricing ;)

3I’ll bet that there won’t be any stickers on any Apple product period. Apple’s all about clean design lines and those stickers on PCs (and digital cameras and camcorders, etc.) are ugly.
It’ll be somewhere on the packaging.
But I’ll eat one of those ugly foil labels if it shows up on a Mac proper.

Or just cover it up the Intel logo with the included Apple stickers. ;)
