Last November, Firefox 1.0 racked up 500,000 downloads in the first 24 hours of its release, and we all thought this was great. Those of us that could actually get to the Mozilla servers to download the browser.

Early reports indicate that 1.5 was downloaded almost 1 million times in the first 24 hours, and within two days of its release late Tuesday, it was breaking the 2 million download barrier.

There are now more than 2 million people enjoying a better web experience with Firefox 1.5. Demand continues to be high, greatly exceeding what we saw last year with the release of Firefox 1.0. The quick uptake of Firefox 1.5 is a tribute to the thousands of passionate consumer advocates that continue to work tirelessly to deliver a better web experience for people worldwide.
