I am a big ATI fan. They have been through some rough patches, but I always feel like I have to stick up for the Canadian based company, and it has been harder recently with nVidia taking most of the prizes when it comes to the fastest of the fast in graphics cards, but the X1900 might help change those things if it does as well as some are saying it will do.
With ATI’s Radeon X1900 launch earlier this week, ATI’s taking a dramatic step towards recapturing some of the mindshare that they’ve lost at the high-end of the market since NVIDIA’s GeForce 7800 GTX GPU debuted last summer. ATI didn’t exactly win over the hearts and minds of enthusiasts on launch day with their Radeon X1800 XT, as the GPU was announced about a month before it was generally available at retail. It also didn’t help any that the initial drivers for the card didn’t show its true potential. As a result, quite a few gamers were beginning to dismiss ATI entirely.
Firing Squad has a preview on how the X1900 will handle when in CrossFire mode (2 video cards linked together).
