It's kind of a double edged sword. The chief export of China now is cheap labor and products produced with cheap labor. If the standard of living in China matches that of Japan or Korea for it's citizens, it means that the labor is no longer cheap and they're making the same quality products as their neighbors. China is growing fast, but I think Chinese domination is still a bit far away.

Chris is right, SIZE simply matters.

Right now, Life style, wellfare, living standards of China is still quite below then
Japan or Korea in asia... but that will likely
to change in about 10-20 years...

One of the reason why oli price went up these days are actually because China's energy consumption went up.

Can you imagine 10billion people having one
SUV vehicle per person, that's the end of the world.

It will leads to energy crisis, extream polution, possible large scale war over energy source..

In a good way or bad way, we don't know, but what China does in this comming 20 years will have an huge impact on our lives.

(I'm not Chinese, just to be clear.)

i think this will make chinese a big competition for usage the world over, the biggest force for change is numbers as someone once said (ok, i dont think anyone actually said that). but has anyone seen firefly? i think this will begin a whole new era of speech.
