Google News out of beta

I am not sure how many of you are actually going to care about this, and it barely made me take notice, as the transition between most of Google’s beta projects, and the final project are more or less the same.

Google News has matured a great deal, and we’re proud to see it graduate from its beta status. Much remains to be done, and as always, we have many exciting ideas that we intend to take forward. Meanwhile, as the saying goes, if you don’t like the news, go out and make some of your own. Or just keep reading Google News.

Hopefully, more of their products will make it out of beta before I die of old age.

What do you think of Google’s recent actions?

I think the only reason Google News is out of beta is because Newsvine is getting more and more press as it gets spread out to the masses, and as much as the two services might appeal to slightly different audiences, I think there will be a lot of crossover/competition between the two. Atleast with things coming out of their perpetual beta, we will have one less thing to make fun of them about.

I’ve used Google News every day without a single problem. I wonder what took so long for it to come out of beta.

  2. It is interesting that after YEARS in Beta – accounding to various traffic measuring sources, Yahoo News has many times the visitor traffic of Google News

Google news, although in Beta for years, only really announced twe big upgrades – one was just how news sources would be ranked, and the inclusion of IMAGES

What were they doing in Beta – it is hard to see any real substantial changes in all of those years. With Yahoo, the changes were ongoing and obvious

This is a wonderful page for everyone!
