I am sure most of you have heard of this by now, but Google has released a study of common web authoring statistics across 1 Billion pages. They looked for things like the number of pages in a site, the number of elements used on a page, and common classes given to elements.
Interesting stuff if you are a web designer or just interested in this type of information in general.
By the way, “footer” is the most common class and they even looked at the types of editors being used by the code fragments they would leave behind. GoLive and Word seemed to be big judging by the amount of <0:p> tags that were dropped all over the place.
