Sony Japan has introduced today a new CMOS Sensor with a similar layout to Fujifilm’s SuperCCD. What’s good about this new sensor? Well, Sony claims that it will improve vertical and horizontal resolution 1.4 times compared to the existing ones, and also there will be more sensitivity per pixel than with the current sensors.

This new ClearVid (Clear + Vivid) CMOS sensor will initially be used in the new DCR-DVD505 camcorder, it will be interesting to see if this development makes it way to Sony’s digital still camera range.
