Starz Entertainment is set to release a $9.99 subscription service that will allow subscribers to download content to watch on their portable video players, computers, and televisions. This subscription service, Vongo, is following in the footsteps of ABC, NBC, and CBS. Starz already offers a similar service with RealNetworks, but the service does not allow you to play the files on your portable music player. This service may become popular because of the lower cost media players that are supposed to appear at CES (Consumer Electronics Show). The service will contain 800 features films, but unfourtunately, Vongo will not work with iPods. You can test out a beta version right now here.

1If it fails to work with iPod, I think it has already pretty much failed as the service they’re trying to give.

2seems like a nice service. the only problem i can see is the limited movie selection right now. hopefully this will send a message to the other movie and tv people and start a larger, more comprehensive service (here’s hoping).
