   Serious, Ultimate is just another name for Windows Plus. Perhaps they want to charge even more than Plus so they named it that way.

   Jedeye – it the stuff that won’t make it in the UK edition will probably be the media player, which because of the EU anti-trust rulings. MS has been waging that battle forever and ever in the EU and in the end had no choice but to unbundle MP from the OS. You can download it for free however (I think).

   Silly Griffith, it’ll include a bit more than a new theme. From all the rumor sites, it looks to be a combination of Enterprise and Home edition premium.

   Pretty slick move to not only make money, but to limit piracy. I mean even if coporate keys were leaked out, it won’t be as attractive to pirates since home enthusists will not have much use for the OS since it can’t do fancy media center stuff.

   While the segmentation has it’s plusses, I can’t help but feel that the consumer is going to be one confused SOB, trying to figure out what version is right for him/her.

   well looks like i wont be affording vista anytime soon! i would get it if it were affordable but
   Not only is ultimate edition around 400$us, but youll have to buy 430$ worth of ram just run games on it! it needs 1 gig just to run! thats pretty nuts! even lindows only needs 128MB to tun smooth! Anyways word is youll definately need 2 gigs of ram to play games on it! 2 gigs ram is a whopping 400$ or more! makes upgrading to vista bloat edition extremely dam hard heh.

    id move to linux if i could

    vista runs fat sticky and slow
    (terrible code writting) in beta, but maybe it will be ok later on (cough cough)

    your cost: 400$ of ram plus 400$ for the good version of vista!

    in 94 windows 3.1 ran blazing fast on a intel 166mhz pc with 128 mgs of ram, in 2006 we got 3ghz chips and our pcs still arent faster today because microsoft operating systems and software get needlessly overloaded and become resource hogs to do the same job they did more efficiently yesteryear.

    what we should have is operating system speed and software application benchmarks and reviews rather than hardware at some point

    thats not the end of it! all video cards from ati and nvidia become obsolete and incompatible with vista because directX 9 is not supported in vista, so migrating to vista is totaly frustrating and financialy impossible for the average everyday pc user.

    one solution is for ddr2 ram companies to slash prices on ram 60%, and video card companies slashing their new directX10 top rated cards 50% also, No common pc user can afford 400$ for 2 gigs ram a 500$ video card, plus another 400$ for vista!

    Microsft is really being an ass and kicking people off of the net with this monopolistic fascist and biased attitude. Microsoft seems to put a gun to the head of almost all other company ppl to do its biding and forces pc users into frustrating and incapacitating situations at the same time.

    vista is also puting a huge stall on
    the pc market where no one wants to buy a piece of hardware anymore because vista will make it obsolete even faster than usual even if they all somewhat become obsolete after 6 months its just not helping.

    As for hardware and software marketing scams i think most popular pc companies are in it together but theyre all paying for their scams together also, pc sales are down in a huge way!
    ppl are tired of bein taken for suckers!

    Anti virus makers actualy makes viruses
    for you to buy antivirus software!
    Microfsot helps software companies cuz its
    open to viruses so that you pay for antivirus software.

    screw them all!
    Only go to reliable porn sites
    and app sites!!

    A better and easier solution for the average pc user is dont move to vista at all and keep XP
    and surf with firefox.

    Actualy linux is a speed demon and virus proof with a sweet price to boot and sure is looking better and better as an option to me, the only thing thats sucks about linux is hardware compatibility issues, since their os dosent require fast hardware , hardware makers dont make as many drivers for linux often for their new high end models, but this is also because harware makers keep to much of their old crap
    on the market and their prices to high.

    if i was in charge i would discontinue all
    pentium 4s under the 950 and all celeron chips and older althlons under the 4800 and fx 53 models i would discontinue all hard disks under 250 gigs, nvidia cards under the 7000 series would be gone,
    Ati cards under the x1800 would be gone
    id cut ram prices 50%, video cards over
    350$ would not exist!

    cpus over 500$ would not exist either!!
    the friken things put out microwave
    frequencies! for 1000$ they would have
    to put out virtual whores on all fours
    and make meals for me to spend that kinda money on them! this gauging of the gamer has to stop!

    i would also cut flash ram in a huge way
    down to 10$ per gig

    the hole pc hardware industry needs
    a major price slash..

    A larger OS may simply be the result
    of poorly optimized programming,

    i wonder how much physical compartments
    and features more vista has over xp to take
    10 gigs of space and 1.5 gigs of ram just
    to run, i mean does aero glass require
    9 more gigs hd and 2 gigs ram more than XP?

    vista can work on even 128mg of ram frankly
    but it will drain in virtual memory
    and work real slow

    dosnt more ram and HardDisk space only encourage more sloppy programing? id say yes

    XGL and Compiz, Vista aero and Linsta2 theme.
    50000000 times better than windows vista, and more spectacular.
    Runs incredible well, on a PIV 512Mb RAM, and maybe (more or less) 5 mb HD space
