IGN.com is confirming that the next Halo game is set for release in Spring of 2007. IGN is saying that their source was an anonymous one at Microsoft. Luckily for Nintendo and Sony, Halo 3 will not coincide with their release of the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Revolution. There are not really any details regarding the game so far, but previews are expected at E3. Read more »

A Collection of Apple Ads
Wired as made a quick trip down memory lane and took some of the best, or most well known, ads from Apple. If back then they were already considered great, in my opinion they’re even better now. This isn’t one of the best ones, but it’s certainly one of the weirdest, knowing what we do today. Yes, that is Mr. Gates on the left. Read more »
First HD-DVD Player Released
Toshiba has announced today the very first commercial HD-DVD player, the HD-XA1. The features are pretty basic, but then again, there’s not much room for improvement in video players, unless you make a console out of one, or vice-versa. The player will be released April 27th for 795 USD and will support the 30 GB HD-DVDs as well as the 1080-720p resolution. So the race is now officially on. So what will it be folks, a 30GB HD-DVD video player for 800 bucks or wait for the 360′s HD-DVD add-on, or wait for the PS3 which will, hopefully, be released this Christmas. *knocks on wood* Read more »
Ballmer Admits Brainwashing his Family
Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, admits that he has brainwashed his family and doesn’t allow any products from competitors in his household. When he was asked in a recent interview whether he owned an iPod or not (sheesh, journalists sure luuuuv to ask this question) he answered: “No, I do not,” he replied. “Nor do my children. My children–in many dimensions they’re as poorly behaved as many other children, but at least on this dimension I’ve got my kids brainwashed: You don’t use Google, and you don’t use an iPod.” Not using an iPod is bearable. “Painful”, but bearable. But not being able to use Google… now that’s just cold. Read more »
UMD Dying
It looks like Wal-Mart might stop selling UMD movies, as they become less of a popular seller in the marketplace. Everyone is pointing fingers at Sony, laughing at them for going with a proprietary media source once again. More bad news for Sony’s UMD format: after word last month that several studios were cutting back on UMD releases or dropping support for the format entirely, it now looks like the discs are about to lose coveted shelf space in America’s largest retailer. According to reports, Wal-Mart is expected to stop selling UMDs, though the company has declined to comment on the rumors. Bye Bye UMD? Read more »
Duplicating your Firefox profile
If you use several computers, then you’re likely familiar with the frustration of having to re-input your settings, passwords, bookmarks, history, extensions, and form auto-fill information into your new Firefox installation everytime you re-install your operating system, or get a new computer altogether (lucky you!). I recently got my hands on yet another extra laptop, and I thought of transferring my profile from one of my existing systems. Yes, you can download software that automatically does the backup and restoring for you, but where’s the geekiness in that? Real geeks do it manually–which is perhaps the most straightforward way, anyway. So how do we go about with duplicating a Firefox Read more »
Nintendo Revolution Specs Revealed
And it’s weaker than both the PS3 and the XBox 360. This shouldn’t however be a surprise to anyone as Nintendo had already announced this. And they’re betting more on innovation and low prices instead of a graphic powerhouse. The overall system memory numbers we reported last December have not greatly fluctuated, but new clarifications have surfaced. Revolution will operate using 24MBs of “main” 1T-SRAM. It will additionally boast 64MBs of “external” 1T-SRAM. That brings the total number of system RAM up to 88MBs, not including the 3MB texture buffer on the GPU. By comparison, GameCube featured 40MBs of RAM not counting the GPU’s on-board 3MBs. The original Xbox included Read more »
Enigma for sale on eBay
Here’s your chance to get yourself an Enigma machine and relive World War II in the comfort of your own home. Current bid price is EUR 12,250.00, but the owner is reportedly rooting for a final bid of EUR 40,000.00. The enigma is a portable rotor-based cipher machine used by the Nazis during WWII to encrypt communications. The allied forces were reported to have had a very difficultt time decrypting the message transmissions until they got their hands on one such device. Did you know that the Enigma’s level of encryption could reach up to 380 bits? That’s even better than our standard 256-bit encryption! But the best thing about Read more »
10.000+ frames Sonic fan-made animation in the making
Well, this is a nice break from the fan-made Nintendo animations that come out almost every month. Or perhaps Nintendo fans are just starting to like Sega more because they’re working together now. Regardless of which is the case, a team of talented flash animators are creating what I believe that will be the longest Sonic flash animation (perhaps even the biggest flash game animation). The animated movie release is scheduled for March 23rd. Until then you can enjoy a short, but promising trailer, or have a look at their previous Sonic animation. Read more »
Toshiba introduces new gamer laptop: P105-S921
Toshiba introduced a new laptop meant for the US market with really juicy specifications: Duo Core T2400 (1.83GHz), 1GB of PC5300 DDR2, a SATA HDD, S-Video, DVI-I and a 256MB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS This isn’t very surprising, seeing as laptops are selling much more than desktop computers (and other laptops with similar specifications have been released). The question is, is our technology really evolving so much that we are starting to find laptops better than desktops? Or are we simply buying more laptops because the most important advancements in technology lately have been for mobile devices? Read more »
