For those of you reading the previous two comments; I'm sure you figured out the mis-type of John's -- but you -can still- use the RGB-style, you'll just have to figure out the colours on your own.

RGB plugs? I don't think so - RGB doesn't carry audio, and that would do you no good. RCA plugs carry video (typically the yellow headed plug) and L/R audio (the white/red plugs), which is what that cable surely has.

You can use any 4 pole to RGB cable, like say the one that comes with a DV camera or one that will cost you around 5 bucks from your local electronics store. To make it work you need to plug the red into the yellow and the yellow into the red, and white to white (at least if I recall correctly)

Switching the two colours is not apple being greedy it needs to be that way to make regular 3 pole headphone jacks still work in the same socket :)

Yeah, Apple have sold these cables since the video came out. It doesn't come with the video for the same reason that a wall charger doesn't: extra dough for Apple

No, it doesn't. But Apple does sell cables just like this for $19.
