I have been an Apple user for almost 2 years now, at least when I am away from the office. My desktop is PC, but my laptop is a 17″ Powerbook. While I have tried Adium and Fire, I have always liked iChat for some reason and have decided to stick with it. One of the drawbacks to it is the lack of tabbed chat windows. That is no longer a problem thanks to Chax.
Chax is a plugin for iChat that not only adds the ability of tabbed chat windows, but lets you change/modify a plethora of other settings.

1I have to say that I absolutely despise tabbed chat windows. If I’m multitasking (and honestly, who *just* chats) in a browser window, I have to click twice just to view the message: once to activate the window and again to view the correct tab. I turned tabbed chats off in my Gaim settings, and I am much more efficient because of it.

2I like tabbed chatting just because it helps reduce desktop clutter. To each their own.

4I like tabbed chatting and Adiun only needs one click and brings to the front the tab on which you have been spoken to last.
