Here’s your chance at your 15 minutes of fame. Remember those sometomes-silly, sometimes-weird, always-interesting variations of the Google logo? Well, they’re called doodles, and Google has launched a doodle competition for its UK homepage.
The ‘Doodle 4 Google – My Britain’ competition asks young people across the UK to design a doodle that represents what it means to be British today. The winning doodle, which will be displayed on the Google UK homepage for a day, will be seen by around 18 million people.
The contest is open to all schools/students across the country. Aside from your doodle being displayed on the homepage, prizes include a week-long trip to the Googleplex!







Why not give Google thousands of good ideas for free, sounds like an good idea, doesn’t it?

That’s called leverage. And virtually all companies in the world do it (thought not always for free). Heheh.
At any rate, Google does it with its own employees, too, with their 20% work scheme, where employees are allowed 20% of their paid time to work on personal projects. If they get good ideas, they get to launch these as mainstream Google services (of course, Google gets the gazillions, and the employee probably gets a bonus). I hear Gmail and AdSense were products of this system.
