Got some spare cash in your pocket? If you consider $5,000 spare change to spend on a mobile, you might want to check out the Vertu Racetrack Legends Series, a special edition of the company’s Ascent line. The mobiles are of brushed aluminum finish and have either the Monza or Silverstone tracks etched on the battery cover. Another notable feature is the rubber-tyre-like backing, for that authentic racecar feel (just don’t mistake the phone for your gas pedal!).

Gotta be quick, though as only a thousand units are to be produced. And the price is likely to go higher than five grand (the standard price of the Ascent line)–the luxury mobile maker is known to create handsets costing upwards of $30,000, particularly the diamond-encrusted ones.

Vertu is known to create hand-crafted mobiles in various finishes, including gold and platinum, and with various gems and jewels encrusted into the face or body. As for technological advancement, though, much has to be desired, at least with the company’s older series (Vertus are, after all, essentially Nokias inside, but with fancy bodies). With Vertu, it’s all about style. When you whip out the phone, the message you’re giving the public is “I’m rich.” Sadly, this can also be interpreted as “Steal me.”
