All the companies that fail or are weaker in hardware sales stick themselves to the ones that are selling more. It's only normal that Microsoft and Nintendo stick together. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they do a joint console in the next round of the war. Plus, this strategy is one of Microsoft's smartest, because they need all the "love" they can get in Japan because their sales are going really bad there. Sidding up with a Japanese company is their attempting at gaining a bit more trust from the consumer market. This is pretty normal for in the games industry.
