ThinkSecret has been able to confirm the release of the Apple MacBook for this Tuesday, May 9th. It also looks like they will be thinner than current iBooks and come in White and Black.

Additional sources have confirmed the MacBook’s announcement this Tuesday. Further, sources report that the MacBook will be thinner than current iBooks, will be available in both black and white configurations, and will likely cost slightly more than previous iBook models—not unlike the price increase Apple’s Mac mini saw with its transition to Intel processors.

With the apparent availability of the MacBook in two colors, I wonder if they will still support the plastic case of current iBooks? I had envisioned them sharing the same outer shell as the MacBookPro.

Other news I gathered from this ThinkSecret post is that the initial shipment of 17″ MacBookPros has been delayed by a week while some quality control issues were worked out. I placed my order for the 17″ MacBookPro to replace my 17″ Powerbook on April 26, and the ship date has always shown May 10, with delivery expected by May 17. Yes, this has been a long 3 weeks.
