Slashdot Redesign Winner Announced

A few weeks ago, Slashdot czar CmdrTaco, aka Rob Malda, decided that he wanted to give the information dinosaur known as Slashdot a face lift. He set up a very specific set of guidelines for what he wanted, which resulted in more of a reskin rather than a redesign.

He has announced the winner and will be implementing the new design in the next few days. You can see the winning design here.

I like the design for the most part.

I quite like the way that the menus can be rolled up… hopefully this will be remembered via a cookie or something?

  4. Orangeacid: Yep, the menus remember the state by using a cookie. Actually it was really easy to implement, thanks to moo.fx providing the functionality out-of-the-box. I just had to apply a small patch to get it working across the different subdomains.

I also made the default state configurable, because at least the Services and Vendors menus need to always be expanded. Just so that you know that’s not a bug ;-)

Please please please add label’s (HTML label) to poll. I hate clicking in void.

  6. The new design looks very slick. About time they changed it.
