A few weeks ago, Slashdot czar CmdrTaco, aka Rob Malda, decided that he wanted to give the information dinosaur known as Slashdot a face lift. He set up a very specific set of guidelines for what he wanted, which resulted in more of a reskin rather than a redesign.
He has announced the winner and will be implementing the new design in the next few days. You can see the winning design here.

3I quite like the way that the menus can be rolled up… hopefully this will be remembered via a cookie or something?

4Orangeacid: Yep, the menus remember the state by using a cookie. Actually it was really easy to implement, thanks to moo.fx providing the functionality out-of-the-box. I just had to apply a small patch to get it working across the different subdomains.
I also made the default state configurable, because at least the Services and Vendors menus need to always be expanded. Just so that you know that’s not a bug ;-)
