Yes, I was actually invited to the newsvine beta before it was released. While I do enjoy it more than Digg I haven't really integrated it into my daily routine.

If there was a way for Digg to give more weight to diggs from more reputable experts in which ever topic than the fanboys that just digg anything, or anything published by a certain blog superstar, I would most definitely enjoy digg more than I do now.

But if digg were to do that it would no longer be a level playing field which digg is built on.

Chris, have you looked at Newsvine? That is what Digg is currently trying to shift to become (but without the actual news).

Yes I did, but since its already on the light side I wouldn't see the need to offer a lite version.

I've never had any load problems with Digg, the only people I could see having a problem are people on dial-up, which most tech-savvy people don't use.

I would think any loading problems would occur on the server side because of the large amount of traffic rather than graphics.

People rave about Digg and I've tried to get into it. I've always had a problem with the quality of the articles that are voted to the homepage, especially design related articles. It's recycled stuff I've already read or its garbage. But that's me.

That's also the problem with "user-generated content." Since its a consensus of people digging articles the articles will always be somewhat mediocre.

I read blogs, news, and I look at the linklogs of other blogs that I enjoy. That may be the reason why digg is no use to me.

Its not bad, but did you see the first Digg? There was like 1 graphic. For something like Digg, that's all I need.

What fancy graphics? The header?

This is probably one of the most slimmed down web 2 point blah apps I've seen.
