RIAA vs You Tube Teenagers

You know when you go to You Tube and type in, oh, “Dragula”, looking for the Rob Zombie music video, but instead, all you get is 70 webcam videos of stupid teenagers bouncing around to the song? Well, the RIAA are sick and tired of it, too!

The RIAA are declaring war on stupid teenagers, sending Cease & Desist Orders to all posters of You Tube videos featuring licensed music. It’s hard to figure out how the RIAA is taking any real “losses” to these videos, as they really just serve as good samples for the songs-themselves, and thus generate interest.

Personally, I think those sorts of videos are annoying and stupid; the less of them the better. At the same time, I think the RIAA is going overboard on “protecting” licensed music. So I’m a little torn on how to feel.

Maybe the RIAA just realises that doing this will be a good negative-publicity stunt? Gee, they love looking like bastards :)

It’s like the War on Terror: any time you wage a battle against an idea, you will find there is no way to win. The RIAA is trying to dictate HOW and WHEN you should enjoy your music. It is a losing battle, and the more they do this, the dumber they look.
