Everybody remember the Super Mario Bros live-action movie starring that dude from Roger Rabbit and the annoying Latino-guy? Well, I sure do, and I liked the movie! It’s something I think all Mario fans should at least give a second chance to. I wrote a review Which You Can Check Out Right Here.
You wanna know something? I think this movie has an unfair reputation. Donât get me wrong, as an adaptation of the classic Nintendo video game franchise, Super Mario Bros the Movie is a complete and utter failure. But thatâs NOT how I like to look at it. Super Mario Bros the Movie is more an homage to the games from which it was inspired. If you can look at the movie with that perspective in mind, then itâs actually a whole lot of fun.

3If you ask me this movie has Mario appearing in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past game! I mean think about it! In ALTTP, you have 2 worlds, the light world [hyrule] and the dark world [the land ganon rules over]. And in the Mario movie we have Brooklyn [Mario & Luigi's home] and… the other place which King Koopa rules. And in ALTTP, Ganon is trying to find a way out of the Dark World and into the Light World similar to King Koopa being so desperate over the metorite peice to merge brooklyn and his world. So… I don’t know about you gamers and readers but this is what I think. I should also note that the Mario movie also has some similarites to the Wind Waker. The Helmeroc King accidently kidnaps Link’s sister when it was supposed to go after Tetra/Zelda similar to Iggy and Spike keeping on mistaking the Brooklyn Girls for Daisy. And finally before I close, the fact that Daisy doesn’t even know that she’s even a princess is similar to Tetra not knowing she’s Princess Zelda either
