Last month I watched, what came to be, one of the best animes I’ve ever seen, Honey & Clover. And after watching, I quickly decided to write a review right here to let you know how great it is. So it was with great anticipation, that I began watching the first two episodes of the new season, however, I felt a bit disappointed after watching them.
The first episode, is basically a synopsis of the ending episodes of the first season. Similar to what they did in the first episode, this served to introduce what the plot was and how the relationships were developing, with less focus on the actual characters.
The second episode, seemed to be exactly what you’d expect if Honey & Clover 1 had been one episode longer. It continued to tell the story of the two love triangles and how the characters evolved from the brief time between the first and second season.
The reason why I feel a bit disappointed, is that with the exception of the later episodes of the first season, the thing I liked the most about H & C was the balance between it’s drama and comedy, however, the second season seems to emphasise much more on drama than anything else, and if Morita doesn’t show up to act like a goofball from time to time it just feels like any other romantic anime.
But, I can really say I only watched “the first” episode of the series, and there’s still much story telling to tell, I just hope some characters don’t get left behind *cough*Hagu*cough* while others evolve and become more mature. I really want to see something “happen” on this season, and I’m hoping for some of those bright moments that made the first one so special.
You can download the current and upcoming episodes from Lunar’s tracker, but please cease distribution when the show is licensed. And if you haven’t seen the first season you should take this opportunity to do so.

4What are some more good anime shows? Watching Honey & Clover now, what do you recommend I watch next?
By the way, as of now, Azumanga Daioh is my favorite series ever.

5Well, if you prefer a more dramatic anime, watch Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien.

6Ah I got that once and never got around to watching it. Once I found out it was based on a game I kind of lost interest honestly.
