gimp-sm.pngThe GIMP is “teh cool” in my book because it’s free, it’s powerful, and it’s just so geeky. A lot of designer friends of mine aren’t too comfortable with the GIMP, though, and would rather stick to Photoshop. Of course, I understand, as Photoshop is still today’s gold standard for image manipulation (and creation). But for the GIMP fanatics (and people who have no other choice), you might want to visit GUG-the GIMP Users Group–an interesting site that has tutorials on everything from doing basic textures, working with layers and paths, to using scripts.

.

.. by far, largest collection of Gimp arts and tutorials anywhere on the internet! Right now our galleries contain 2662 pictures, 220 textures, and we have 225 members! Further, we offer 18 Script-Fu scripts.

I don’t know why I’m such a GIMP fan. It’s probably because I’m not a graphic designer.
