More Bad ATI News: TV Wonder 650 Recalled

If you thought the recent news about the end of the All-In-Wonder cards was bad, atleast we now know why they need to focus more on their independant devices. It seems ATI has issued a nation-wide recall of their ATI TV Wonder 650 TV tuner cards due to only 30% to 50% having the full 40 channels working. ATI has told Best Buy to tell customers that a “similar product” will be released soon. If you’ve actually purchased one of these cards, we suggest you contact ATI to see if they can give you a refund or a replacement. What an interesting situation. AMD better set ATI straight, or they Read more »

Cartoons Worth Watching: Shin Chan

This anime, dubbed by Funimation, premiered on Adult Swim last week and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. Incredibly crass and incredibly funny, it’s one of the few shows I routinely look forward to. You can read my full break-down of the show Right Here! Crayon Shin Chan has been an extremely popular anime series in Japan since 1992. In fact, it seems it has been released in every country on the planet *but* America. At least until last week. For those of you in the UK, you might recognize a previous edited Shin Chan dub done a few years back, featuring the likes of Kath Soucie as Shin-himself. Read more »

No Microsoft for Indian State

In Kerala, a southern state in India, the givernment has started a campaign to eliminate Microsoft from use in public institutions. This comes only a few weeks after they imposed a ban on Coca-Cola and Pepsi products. As part of a drive against “monopolistic” organizations, schools and public offices across the state are being encouraged to install free software systems instead of purchasing Microsoft’s Windows programs. “It is well-known that Microsoft wants to have a monopoly in the field of computer technology. Naturally, being a democratic and progressive government, we want to encourage the spread of free software,” M. A. Baby, the state’s education minister, said by telephone. Microsoft was Read more »

No More All In Wonder Cards?

It looks like certain sources are reporting that ATI is planning to discontinue its All-In-Wonder video cards. For those that don’t know ATI’s AIW cards are video cards with TV tuners and other such features. The details say that ATI wants to concentrate on stand alone graphics cards and stand alone TV tuners. It is probably a good move for them as people are more reluctant to replace a video card that does more than just help them play their favourite video games. This also allows ATI to make you purchase two devices, which could increase their profit. There is no official word yet on why they would go in Read more »

New "George of the Jungle" Animated Series

Looks like the classic Jay Ward character will be making yet another come-back. This time, George will be appearing in a cartoon series produced by Studio B Productions. This new series will be flash animated, like Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, so the animation-quality will only be marginally more impressive than the 1967 television series. George of the Jungle was recently brought back into the spotlight with two live action films which were rather funny (at least *I* thought they were). This new series won’t be taking much from the movies, however, and the animation style will be heavily influenced by the character designs of the original Jay Ward TV Read more »

Original TMNT Vol. 5 DVD Review

The fifth DVD of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series has been released on DVD today, and since I had nothing better to do, I watched all the episodes. You can read my full review of the DVD set Right Here! So Lions Gate has released the 5th volume of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series on DVD. This volume contains the 3rd part of season 3 with the DVDs still marching along in proper chronological order (which, unfortunately, cannot be said for the DVDs of the new animated series, which jumped ship into Random Episode Land a long time ago). Sennheiser MX 90 VC earphones review

Sennheiser MX 90 VC earphones review

There comes a time every couple of years or less in which you have to change earphones. My time came now, and once again I decided to choose Sennheiser over all other medium-priced earphones. The result is astonishing. The difference between these and my old and cheaper Sennheiser earphones wasn’t as great as the difference I felt when I changed from some Sony in-ear earphones to them. However, the difference these new earphones and my latest make me consider not buying a new pair of PC Speakers due to it’s excellent quality. I am not a Bass lover, I enjoy it but it’s not something that makes me go crazy Read more »

The Wizard: Review

Take a wild guess at what was just recently released on DVD. Here’s a few hints: It stars Fred Savage, Beau Bridges, Christian Slater and Super Mario. The plot is a kid-friendly take on “Rain Man”. The climactic showdown takes place in Universal Studios, California. If you guessed “The Wizard” then that means you aren’t blind and you can see the box cover a few centimeters above this. Anyhow, this cult classic was just recently released on DVD and, of course, I was the only person who actually bought the thing while everybody else was there to pick up more deserving classics like…uh…Brother Bear 2.
