CBS Television will soon be showing off its shows for free via the Internet. Other networks have tried to do this before, and CBS already sells downloads of shows on Apple’s iTunes as well as Google’s Video store, but in May it launched an advertising-supported online channel called “innertube” to start streaming programming created just for the web.

CBS has said that starting next month, you can expect to see streams of a new show, Jericho, as well as returning shows like CSI, NCIS, Numbers and Survivor.

The shows will still contain advertisements like their television counterparts, but the ads will be shorter, and cannot be skipped. The time between the shows being on television and on the Internet will be reasonable as well, as shows will become available the day after they appear on TV and episodes of Jericho and Survivor will remain online for the entire season.

I am really looking forward to this. A shame that since I live in Canada, I will have to set up Internet Explorer to use an American Proxy to be able to access the shows.
