With Blu-ray and HD DVD just over the horizon, does it really matter what happens in the world of regular DVD drives? Well, Lite-On would like to think so, and so they are working on a drive that will allow you to burn a DVD in around five minutes and thirty seconds. While that is not much faster than current drives, it is faster than the 16x drives some people have as well as the 18x drives that are coming out now.

I currently have a 4x DVD burner, and I am looking to upgrade it. Will I wait until the 20x DVD burner comes out? Not really.
