I think the Apple response to why buy something only available on portable machines through iTunes is coming.

They call it (for the moment) iTV and it will distribute the contents of iTunes and the media on your mac around your home - to your tv etc etc. There will be other similar solutions - but Apple has a hppy knack of making these things work seamlessly. Many people are keen to pay so they dont have to swear at their gizmos or replace them every two years.

PDA, PSP, Phones with rich feature,

any of these can play decent or excellent

movie clip. Buy a DVD then enjoy it with ur

big TV or rip it and enjoy in your portable

device, why buy a movie from apple and

restric the use for only portable movie

watching, only with their machine?

Buying movies from iTunes, it's easy,

people who don't know how to use other

powerful portable device kinda have to

depend on easy-to-use service like iTunes,

otherwise, waste of money.

The videos are VGA resolution. Your average TV displays VGA resolution, the same as a DVD I believe. The iTunes movies are VGA resolution also.

So besides the copying protection, I don't see many other disadvantages on buying the movies.

Of course, the copying protection is a big downside, but then again, you're getting a movie from the comfort of your chair (or sofa) that you can watch unlimited times, so I guess you're paying a bit extra for that.

If you have a cd, you can put it on your ipod. If you have a dvd (and the know-how to shrink it down) is there a risk of copyright infringement if you put that on your ipod? It amazes me how many people have money to blow on $10 rather small movies.
