Laptop owners should be happy to know that Sharp has just announced a new blue laser output they’ve created which consumes less energy and has a bigger lifespan than the current Blu-Ray HD-DVD players.
The GH0402AGE will consume 168mW and will have a life span of 10,000 hours.

Since there is a rumor, that new MacBooks and MacBook Pros will be released next month with the upgraded Core 2 Duo processors, perhaps Apple could seize the opportunity to also put a next-generation drive on one of them. (Although, if the rumor is true, it’s probably already too late for that)
