EA CEO Jeff Probst recently said in an interview that Sony only managed to ship half the number of consolers they had predicted for the launch day.

Probst said demand for Sony’s much-anticipated PlayStation 3 (PS3), which made its U.S. debut on November 17 for the critical holiday season, was strong but a shortage of supply meant that only about 200,000 units of the game console were sold at retail outlets.

So far, Sony hasn’t announced how many consoles they’ve sold. I’m my opinion, they’re probably behind their expectations, otherwise I’m pretty sure that they would have bragged about it already.
