Like many Americans, and indeed, Westerners in general, my first introduction to the Guyver was through the live action films from the early 90’s. They eventually lead me to pick up the animated OVAs from which they were based (which, in turn, was based on the manga series). As a kid, I liked them mostly because it was so rare to see gore and cursing in a cartoon. Now, as an adult, I don’t quite get the same sort of juvenile entertainment out of television. Yet, the Guyver has remained a nostalgic favorite of mine, even if the series hasn’t aged very gracefully.
