Actually, TripQue, that visual change actually makes sense.

However, I have to agree with J. Angelo that they have too many options for a simple task. If Vista, which translates to "view" is supposed to be an easier computing experience, there should be less options to choose from, not more. Specially with tasks that all users will use repeatedly.

Personally I have found great uses for all of the "Shut-Down" options. My current laptop has all of those options and each one helps in it's own way.

Hibernate is a godsend for a laptop. Being able to save your configuration and shut down the computer (With the battery off) and then quickly start up again is very handy when you go to school with a laptop, I can use this so there is no downtime when I show up to classes or labs (Mechanical engineer major lots of science collection on my computer)

Sleep is great for when you just need to run somewhere with the laptop but dont have the time to shut-down or hibernate but still want to conserve battery.

Shut-Down and restart-well... duh, for long periods of time and restart is self expanatory.

Lock- At the school I go to people leave there computers plugged in and watched by a friend all over the place. It's nice to lock the computer when it is vulnerable to even a friend wreaking havoc on the system whether it be through changing the desktop to something disturbing as a joke or a virus.

And Log-off or switch user is obviously for multi user computers.

I find all the options useful for certain types of situations, so personally I wouldnt complain and definetly don't find the setup overly complicated I find it simpler then skipping features.

Well thats my POV.

Just a note: there is an option in Vista to change the default option for the "power" button on the start menu to "Shutdown the computer". The icon even changes to a more threatening red color when you do this! WILL THE WONDERS NEVER CEASE!!!! ;-P
