All of the ATI fans who have been eagerly waiting for an updated Graphics Card will be happy to hear that it’s new R600 model managed to beat NVIDIA’s top model even with non-optimized drivers.

the single R600 card bested the solo 8800 GTX in basically every benchmark they tried, with common applications seeing minimal gains, but games saw between ten-percent (Half-Life 2: Lost Coast) and 42-percent (1701 A.D.) hikes.

And so we tear another page from the never-ending battle for faster graphics between ATI and NVIDIA, and I’m really happy that all doubts about ATI’s competence will be silenced, at least for now.
