TrekWeb has posted an official press release announcing Star Trek XI.
The film will be helmed by J.J. Abrams, and will be released on Christmas Day 2008. What a merry Christmas it will be for many a Trekkie…
Also, IGN has a report that the roles of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy may be filled soon…by who?
Matt Damon (Kirk), Adrian Brody (Spock), and Gary Sinise (McCoy). Will it happen? Only time will tell…but I can already hear those same Trekkies groaning…how?
I am one.

One Response for "Star Trek XI Official Announcement + Casting Rumors"
February 27th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
1I dunno, I grew up on Trek, TOS was my introduction to “Sci-Fi” and I’m not as dismayed by the casting rumors as I thought I’d be…Sinise as McCoy doesn’t sound bad, whereas, say, Willem Dafoe would be horrid. Damon as Kirk depends on how he plays it…if he tries to turn Kirk into Jason Bourne 2.0, that starship’s not gonna fly, but if he has fun with the part, mixing in the cockiness/arrogance he had in Good Will Hunting, it could be okay. Brody as Spock is ludicrous, but I don’t know that there’s anyone out there who could fit the role. More importantly, who’s Scotty gonna be?
