Firefox Quick Tip: Status Bar Download Manager

Firefox Quick Tip: Status Bar Download Manager

Today’s tip comes from Bloggy Network sister blog LifeSpy. Thanks for the tip guys! If there is one thing that drives me nuts it’s pop-ups. Thanks to the built-in pop up blocking in Firefox it’s rarely an issue these days…except when I’m downloading something. The Download Manager pops up, and drives me crazy. Thankfully, there is a fix for that. With the Firefox add-on: Download Statusbar. This little app handles all your download management neesds in a bar just above your status bar, and even has its own settings so you can customize it to your heart’s content. Click Here to download Download Statusbar. Read more »

Hitachi launches 1 Terabyte Hard Drive

Hitachi launches 1 Terabyte Hard Drive

Although 1 Terabyte hard drives aren’t really new (Alienware and Dell already offer 1TB options for their systems), they are certainly becoming more common. At approximately €315 (more or less $420), this new Deskstar 7K1000 Toshiba hard drive offers a pretty ratio between capacity and price. It spins at 7200 rotations per minute, has 32MB of cache and uses SATA as it’s interface. Considering that my 300GB HDD cost almost a third of that price, I think that this is a pretty good deal for anyone looking for a new Hard Drive. Read more »

Intel gives details on Core 2's successor: Penryn

Intel revealed, a press conference a few days ago, some details about the 45nm successor to the popular 65nm Core 2 Duo Processors. Besides the further miniaturization of the components, the new processors will also have a bigger cache and the capacity to do calculations more efficiently. If you want to read more details on what the new processors will have in store you can read the original article from ars, but, I’m guessing, that what you really want to know is: how faster your games will run thanks to it. Well, you’ll be happy to know, that performance will increase by as much as 20% on games, and by Read more »

Apple Buyer's Guide

One of the things that always upsets Apple customers is when they buy a product and a couple of weeks later Apple releases a new model and brands theirs as outdated or even obsolete. One of the examples of this, was when Apple released the iPod Nano and took the iPod Mini out of the market. Now, thanks to this website from MacRumors.com you can find out if the Apple product you wish to purchase is nearing an end of cycle or not. The iPod and the iPod Nano, for example, are approaching an end of cycle, and should see an update during the next 2 to 3 months. Perhaps Read more »

17 year old teenager builds homemade fusion reactor

17 year old teenager builds homemade fusion reactor

A 17 year old teenager from Michigan, who wanted to win a science fair, decided to build a fusion reactor in his basement… talk about overkill! The project was no easy task, and required over 1000 hours for research and design (that’s over 2 months and a half of studying and planning if he spent all of his awaken time doing research for it). How did he managed to get the parts he needed for it? Well, from eBay of course! Now I don’t know what’s most surprising, the fact that it was a 17 year old that made a device that can fuse two hydrogen atoms together, or the Read more »

Blades of Glory Review

Blades of Glory Review

“Blades of Glory” isn’t what I would call a particularly geeky movie…but it does feature super-geek John Heder, and Jenna Fischer, who seems to get the geeks blood pressure up, so I decided to check it out. Let me start by saying that I am a fan of Will Ferrell. I enjoyed “Anchorman” for what it was, and I was really impressed with him in “Stranger Than Fiction”. I also really enjoyed “Napoleon Dynamite” (even though the merchandising on that thing got WAY out of control). So the idea of Will Ferrell and John Heder in a comedy together sounded like a good idea to me. After seeing the first Read more »

Is Buffy going to be in Batman?

Is Buffy going to be in Batman?

Aint-It-Cool points us to a rumor that Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, may be in “The Dark Knight”. I’m kind of surprised that no one seems to be speculating who she would be if she did have a roll in the film…it seems pretty obvious to me…hot blond chick? In a movie where The Joker is the villain? Harley Quinn anyone? Here’s what started the rumor: “I’m an independent filmmaker [ writer / producer ]: “I had been talking back and forth with one of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s reps about a role in a new film I start shooting in May.” “It was always a long shot, and we did Read more »

Linda Carter on Smallville

Linda Carter on Smallville

Hey fans of superheroes on television, Smallville has dipped into the DC comics on TV past yet again and this time brought in the lovely and beautiful Linda Carter to play Chloe’s mother in the upcoming episode “Progeny”. Krypton Site has all the info on Smallville you could ever want, include the pic above. If you follow this show, Chloe has become one of the most interesting characters this season, and with recent revelations about her coming to light (that I won’t specifically mention here) this addition to the cast only helps to further my interest in the character. I’m looking forward to this episode. Read more »
