In an interview with MovieHole, Adam Rifkin let the long thought dead He-Man movie rumor fire back up to full speed!
Tallstar Asks : Hello Adam, Can you give us an idea what direction you went on the script for “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”? It has been stated that Fox 2000 handed the project back to Mattel, but now its listed as an ‘upcoming’ project. Has there been some renewed interest? Thanks!
Adam : Legally I’m not allowed to say much concerning HE-MAN, however I can say this: HE-MAN is a movie that’s definitely going to be made! Where and with whom are all pretty top secret at present, but when the shroud of mystery is finally lifted I can promise you, HE-MAN fans will not be disappointed.Big Bob Asks : What interested you about “He-Man”?
Adam : Again, like UNDERDOG, HE-MAN was a cartoon I liked watching when I was younger. It’s been really neat getting to be involved with so many of the big screen versions of properties I loved when I was a kid.
Now, having a 3 year old who is in love with He-Man and She-Ra, I don’t think I could hear better news. I can’t wait to get more info about this rumor. Here’s hoping it’s not as disappointing as that wonderful “Masters of the Universe” flick from the 80s. Somebody get Gerald Butler on the phone!!!!

1That is completely awesome! I hope that they set this movie in Eternia and not on Earth, like they did with the last one. I was just thinking the other day how unfair it is that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get four movies, while all the great cartoons I grew up with in the eighties barely make it onto late night cable.

2Great news, can’t wait for this “He-Man and the Masters of The Universe” is the #1 80s toon/toyline and the new relaunch in 2002 was excellent, hopefully whoever is doing the movie (Peter Jackson please!!!) it will be great and lead to a full on MOTU trilogy. Bring it on!

3GREAT START ON HE-MAN.
Just to talk on He-Man movie,Adam Rifkin is talking on the film as an upcoming project and John Woo will not be doing the movie at the moment because he is directing The Battle Of Red Cliff movie.
Woo will return for the film or maybe Peter Jackson could do the movie.
There will be someone who could play He-Man for the movie including Jason Lewis (Brothers And Sisters,Charmed) or Travis Fimmel (Tarzan).
Travis Fimmel currently looks like Jason Lewis and one could be the winner to play He-Man for an upcoming project.
There will be more screenwriters as Rifkin does the script right to follow true to the cartoon series.
Thank You.

4I loved the 1980s He-Man movie. Sure it was’nt entirely perfect or accurate, but a great deal of that movie did’nt harm anything established. Earth had been a vocal point for many classic and infamous episodes of both MOTU and She-Ra, the violence and tone was considerably much darker, and Skeletor actually had overcome The Sorceress and seized control of Eternia.
For many He-Fans, it was the ending we never got (until the much underrated and unappreciated New Adventures of He-Man had to give us said ending) and a perfect storyline to add to the MOTU mythology.
