HTC, the makers of various different Windows Mobile devices (which were previously sold under the Qtek brand) have just unveiled their first UMPC computer, the HTC Shift. This particular computer is a hybrid between a Tablet PC and an ultra-portable device which makes it ideal for almost any condition, unlike other UMPCs which you need to hold, at all times, in order to use.
In terms of specifications, this device has:
a 7″ (800×400) widescreen display, 1GB of RAM, 30GB HDD, fingerprint scanner, 1.3MP webcam, 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, tri-band HSDPA and EDGE and a built-in keyboard. When it comes to expansion, there’s a Secure Digital slot, a single USB port and a VGA connector.
Which isn’t too shabby for a first outing in the UMPC. In fact, it’s much better than some other offers in the market right now. No launch date has been announced yet, but if you’re in the market for one of these devices, then I recommend you hold on a bit longer to get your hands on this one.
