Have they ever SEEN Captain Marvel?
Reportedly, they want to scoop him up for the role before Sam Rami can get him to play Spider-Man in Spidey 4. (You might remember Gyllenhaal actually had the role of Peter Parker for a day when there were contract problems with Tobey during Spider-Man 2)
This is a TERRIBLE idea…and it’s nothing against Gyllenhaal. He would be a decent replacement to Maguire in future Spidey sequels, and I’m sure there are several other comic characters he could bring to life (He might not make a bad Green Lantern)…but Captain Marvel is supposed to be a BIG GUY…and he’s supposed to be a 12 year old boy…do you really think if they’re getting someone like Gyllenhaal to play the character that a 12 year old is going to running around very much?
Frankly, I think a “Shazam!” movie should never happen. I don’t think the people that have it right now would know what to do with it…and maybe they should just put this one to be before they dump $200 million on it.

2Not the same, in my opinion, Ahmed.
Captain Marvel is a very different beast than Venom. Captain Marvel is supposed to be a larger-than-life representation of what a 12 year old boy thinks of as a superhero…Jake Gyllenhaal ain’t it.

3I dunno…I could see it happening. Gyllenhaal could be Marvel, and someone else could be Batson. He could play a very convincing child in an adult’s body. As for the size issue, there’s no reason he couldn’t be made to look huge. I mean, he’s pretty big in Jarhead.

4I have been thinking about the comics heroes movies released or in project and I discovered the hidden plot under that: Lex Luthor, Sivana, Joker,Black Adam, Dr. Doom, Kingpin and others are manipulating Hollywood directors, producers and writers to destroy the heroes! First, the disgusting Superman III and IV, after, Micheal keaton as Batman, Alicia Slverstone as Batgirl, those abominations Hulk and Fantastic Four, the rumours about Julia Roberts play Wonder Woman role and now, Jake Gyllenhall as the Big Red Cheese?
