The unofficial Apple Weblog have recently given their first impressions about a Beta version of an upcoming Gmail desktop client for macs. What Mailplane basically allows you to do, at this point, is to access your Gmail with a standalone client that enables new features for it, such as, drag-and-dropping files to messages, and access common tasks via the menu bar like: “New Message”, “Reply”, etc.
What this client doesn’t do yet, is to download all your messages to your hard drive. Instead, it focuses on improving the functionality of Gmail as a desktop app.
So what does the TUAW editor think about it?
Mailplane is a strong – and still early beta – start to an exciting application.
So if you have a Mac and a Gmail account, I recommend you give Mailplane a try.
