"I’m almost 31 years old, so there’s no need to buy a nintendo machine"

I don't really understand what age has to do with it. I know that the plural of anecdote isn't data, but here's my anecdote anyway.

My friend Shawn is 29 years old, and he played another friend of mine's Wii _once_. About two days later, another friend of ours found two Wiis at a Wal Mart. She called Shawn and told him, and he immediately rushed over to buy one of them.

Now, Shawn owned zero consoles before he bought the Wii. He never plays games, but he loves the Wii. Maybe it's a difference between a hardcore gamer (Shawn would almost certainly never play Halo 3) and a casual person, but age really has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of enjoyment you get out of the Wii. If anything can be said about it at all, it makes a great party console. Much better than most games on the PS3 or 360.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.
Brad. (who doesn't own a Wii, because he's broke)

I bought a Nintendo Wii and I enjoy it alot...I had a thirst of playing games differently. And the Wii answered my prayers. The graphics are desent and the games I've played are good with the controller. I'm thinking of getting a PS3 too, because I like the way the games look . The Wii satisfies this need to be in the game....and the PS3 has the ability to bring games to 'life'. If you want the powerful, the PS3 and 360 is the direction to go, but if you want a different experience in gaming the Wii is the one. All the sytems offer something different and there is no need for, who's the best, or who's going to take #1...who cares, these companies are going to make their money any way. I know from personal experience that the Wii is contagious...my girlfriend nephew has one...and her mother and father bought one. This is an exciting time for developers, gamers alike......

I really think that when all the new systems hit the shelves, a lot of people opted to buy the Wii first due to it's price point and the novelty of it's controller, but most of these buyers probably plan on purchasing the ps3 or 360 or both down the road. I haven't picked up any of the next gen consoles yet, but Home makes the ps3 look more attractive to me, and I'll get a 360 when Halo 3 is out.

For some of us, there just hasn't been an overriding need to upgrade, yet. PS2 is still a very viable and supported machine, waiting on H3 before buying the 360, and I'm almost 31 years old, so there's no need to buy a nintendo machine.
